The strongest 3-5 candidates for each position will be shared with the host organizations to interview. Filling out an application form does not guarantee your placement. If you are selected as a top candidate to interview for a position, you will be notified by April 1. Internships will be conducted between June and August.
We at the Do Good Institute are thrilled you are interested and look forward to reviewing your application materials. To learn more about the Impact Interns program visit go.umd.edu/impactinterns. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to impactinterns@umd.edu.

Today there are nearly 500 children in the Prince George’s County foster care system- toddlers who have been removed from their families because of abuse, abandonment or worse; children who have lost their parents and often been separated from their brothers and sisters; young teens who have had to change homes and schools six or seven times in just a few years, because they are shuffled between different temporary living situations. All children deserve to be safe, and treated with respect and dignity. All children have a right to a loving home where they can rebuild friendships and learn and grow. This isn’t just important; it is a fundamental obligation of our society to protect the rights and needs of our children during the most vulnerable time in their lives. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)/Prince George’s County trains and supports citizen volunteers who advocate for children in the foster care system. We fight for their rights and needs until they are in safe, loving, permanent homes. A CASA volunteer is very often the only adult a child has been able to rely upon in their entire life. It’s that simple-a qualified, caring adult can Change a Child’s Story.

The Civic Circle’s mission is to empower young students to understand and participate in democracy through music and the arts, inspiring compassionate, informed, engaged citizens. A leading aspect of our mission is to close the well-documented racial equity gap in civic knowledge and engagement that has dampened voting and political agency among students in marginalized communities. Our equity-informed program targets diverse Eastern Montgomery County. The songwriting aspect of our program lifts up student voices so they can both process the social upheavals they are living through, and expand their civic efficacy with a potent tool to advance community change: Music.
