Food Recovery Network

Back to Teams

The Food Recovery Network (FRN) is a network of University of Maryland volunteers that recover surplus food from campus dining halls, catering kitchens, and sporting events, and donate it to those in need in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Food Recovery Network first started at UMD in 2011 and has since grown to become a nonprofit organization with a chapter in almost every state. All the food recovered at UMD is donated to the Christian Life Center (CLC) in Riverdale, MD, who then redistributes the recovered food to nine local churches and soup kitchens, as well as the general Riverdale community.
