Inspired by recent national outcry, Verse was founded as a way to tackle performative activism head-on. By providing educational, service-oriented, and self-reflective resources, Verse’s innovative platform allows users to learn more about different communities via reputable resources and engagement opportunities. By helping members engage in challenging conversations with people different than themselves, Verse fosters a deeper awareness of diversity and cultural competency. Verse hopes to reach first-year students at the University of Maryland through introductory courses, and is working to incorporate diversity and inclusion into curriculum across campus.
