In spring 2024, the Do Good Institute completed a one time program, the Provost’s Do Good Innovators, to celebrate the growth of UMD’s Do Good Campus. The program recognized faculty and staff who have been hard at work tackling the grand challenges of our time.

Councilmembers and their Dean/VP/Athletic Director managed the nomination and selection process for whom to recognize in their respective School/College/Unit.

Examples of Do Good Innovators in various units include:

  • Founding the National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches
  • Leading a collaborative effort in Prince George’s County to implement the countywide climate action plan
  • Creating a supportive community for Afghan refugee families who live on or near campus
  • Producing an innovative pilot program that addresses the critical mental health needs of first responders
  • Providing pathways to career success for high school students and underserved communities
