The Leadership Exchange: Building Effective Philanthropic Partnerships

Back to All Events

Join us this semester for our virtual speaker series featuring exciting and innovative nonprofit and social impact leaders. Speakers will share their diverse perspectives on a range of nonprofit, philanthropic and civic sector challenges and important leadership lessons. Next in our speaker series is Jennifer Chavez Rubio, who will chat with us about philanthropic partnerships, effecting community change at the local and global levels, grantmaking, and her leadership journey (among many other topics!).

Jennifer is a senior program officer for philanthropic partnerships in the global policy and advocacy division at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and a board member at Hispanics in Philanthropy.

Her career spans across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Previously, she led global and domestic corporate philanthropy and volunteerism for multinational corporations, including Lockheed Martin, Medtronic, and Genentech. Jennifer served as a political appointee as part of President Obama’s administration as director of gifts and grants management at the Peace Corps. There, she led strategic philanthropic partnership efforts and directed grantmaking programs to support volunteer projects, including First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative to support girls’ education. Prior to the Peace Corps, Jennifer worked at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the San Francisco Foundation; and she started her career as a bilingual public school teacher.

Jennifer previously sat on the corporate advisory committee of the Council on Foundations and the advisory board of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation Corporate Citizenship Center, in addition to her current board position with Hispanics in Philanthropy.

More about the series
