Kappa Lambda Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. was founded on October 7, 2003 by eight women from the University of Maryland, College Park and the Long Island University of Brooklyn, NY. This sorority became one of the most diverse multicultural sororities of its kind. Using the concepts of "Unity in Diversity" and "Breaking Down Barriers", the eight founding mothers embarked upon a journey to promote the strong roots of stepping out of the shadows of the pre-existing cultural barriers, and using each individuals' differences to form a stronger bond of sisterhood. The dedicated ladies of Kappa Lambda Xi Sorority are intent upon their mission to eradicate pre-existing notions of prejudice, discrimination and false pride on campus and in the surrounding community through the strong bonds of sisterhood.
