April is Do Good Month at the University of Maryland - a time to come together to do good in your communities and to celebrate the impact that Terps have made throughout the year. Whether you’re a student, alumni, or staff and faculty member, there are many ways for you to jump in and make a difference this month. As the nation’s first Do Good campus, the University of Maryland brings together scholars, researchers, and creators, united in purpose to do good. April 1: Do Good Challenge Finalists Announced

This year’s Do Good Challenge Finalist teams will be announced on April 1! Meet the Finalist teams competing on the Challenge stage for a share of more than $20,000. Learn more about the Do Good Challenge.

April 11: Webinar with Generosity Commission & Giving USA

Join The Generosity Commission and the Do Good Institute to hear more about the relationship between different types of civic behavior and how factors in our daily life influence giving and volunteering patterns. Learn how social connectedness and group membership influence giving and volunteering and how we create an environment that fosters generosity. Register for the webinar.

April 12: Black Terp Entrepreneurship Summit

This year's Black Terp Entrepreneurship Summit: Breaking Barriers, Building Wealth, and Fostering Collaboration will address the unique challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs and cultivate a supportive community that encourages collaboration, mentorship, crowdsourcing ideas and provides actionable approaches to entrepreneurship challenges. The summit will include dynamic speakers and sessions - including a panel led by Accelerator Manager Kisha McNeill - that will help Terps with their businesses. The Summit is hosted as part of UMD's Black Alumni Weekend. Learn more here.

April 13: Volunteer at the Annual North College Cleanup

Celebrate Earth Month 🌎 Join your neighbors in North College Park for an annual clean up day, April 13 from 9am - 11am! Bags and gloves will be provided for you, and together you'll help pick up litter in the neighborhood. Feel free to stay after to support the season opening of the Hollywood Farmers Market.  Register to volunteer

April 19: Do Good Campus Fund Grant Recipients Announced

Stay tuned to meet the incredible student, staff and faculty groups across campus who have been awarded grant funding from the inaugural Do Good Campus Fund. The Campus Fund supports the substantial efforts happening across the University of Maryland, aimed at reimagining learning and serving humanity both inside and outside the classroom. April 19: Volunteer at Maryland Reading Celebration Day

Join the Maryland Reading Program on April 19 at the Stamp Student Union! Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in small group reading with first and second-grade students from Prince George's County Public Schools and facilitate afternoon literacy activities. Register to volunteer

April 20: Do Good Service Earth Day Cleanup

Join the DC Terps and Anacostia Riverkeeper for a river clean at Kenilworth Park OR make your way to the Winding Creek Local Park where community members will be picking up litter and tidying trails.

April 24: Blood Drive at Riggs Alumni Center

Sign up to donate at this blood drive in partnership with the Alumni Association and the American Red Cross. Head to Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM on Wednesday, April 24. Make an appointment here

April 27: Maryland Day

Maryland Day is here! Join us for an unforgettable day of fun and discovery. Meet student chance takers and difference makers tackling today's grand challenges at the Do Good Plaza, or join Terps Against Hunger for a meal-packing event at Ritchie Coliseum. Discover all Maryland Day has to offer here.

April 30: Attend the Do Good Challenge Finals

The Do Good Institute is thrilled to invite you to the Do Good Challenge Finals on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 where six student teams will pitch their impact on stage for a chance to win a share of more than $20,000. The student showcase and finals will take place at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center starting at 6pm. Let us know you're coming
