Best Practices for Proposal Writing and Finding Grants

Presented by Candid, learn the basics of writing and submitting a project proposal and finding grants. Discover what funders are looking for in nonprofits seeking grants and how to find potential funders. 

From 10:30-12:30, we will cover: 

  • The basic elements of a proposal 
  • The “do’s” and “don’ts” of writing and submitting a proposal 
  • How to follow up whether the answer is yes or no 
  • Who funds nonprofits and what are their motivations 
  • What funders really want to know about the organizations they are interested in funding 
  • How to identify potential funders and make the first approach 

This session will also include an overview of free Candid resources that are available online for ongoing support. 

From 12:30 - 2:00, Candid staff will be available for one-on-one appointments to assist with using Foundation Directory Online for grant research, reviewing project pitches, and demo-ing additional Candid resources.
